Community guidelines

What we expect from everyone on FishandBeer. These guidelines are part of the Terms of Use, and the same text lives in the app under Settings → Legal.
The spirit of it
FishandBeer is for sharing real catches with people you actually fish with. Keep it honest, keep it friendly, keep it legal. These guidelines are part of the Terms of Use.
Keep it real
- Log your own catches, honestly. Claiming fish you didn't catch, inflating measurements, entering a false catch date, or gaming records, leaderboards, achievements, size tiers, titles, or verified-catch badges ruins the point for everyone. An award earned by breaking this rule can be revoked.
- Don't impersonate other people or pretend to represent the App.
Keep it friendly
- No harassment, bullying, hate or threats. Not in photos, catch notes, display names, group names, or anywhere else you can enter text or present yourself.
- What a group shares stays in the group. Never pass on another member's fishing spots, or anything else shared privately with you in the App, outside that group without their permission, whether by screenshot, message, or any other means.
- No sexual, shocking, or violent content. Fish photos are the point; keep it at that.
- Don't post photos of other people without their permission.
Keep it legal
- Don't showcase illegal fishing: protected species kept out of season, illegal methods, or fishing without required permits.
- No spam, scams, advertising, or content that infringes someone else's rights, including copyright.
Reporting and blocking
If you see content or behaviour that breaks these rules, report it directly from the catch or profile. Reports go straight to the moderation queue and are reviewed by a person without undue delay. If you report content as illegal from inside the App, the same follow-through applies as for email notices: we confirm we received your report, review it diligently, and tell you what we decided and how you can challenge it. You can also block any user from their profile. Blocking stops the interactions the App controls between you and them, such as likes, follows, guesses, trip invites, and group invites. If you are both participants in the same trip or members of the same group, what is shared inside that trip or group stays visible to everyone in it; leave the group, or un-share your spots and catches, if you no longer want a member to see them.
Anyone, including people without an account, can report content they believe is illegal by emailing support@fishandbeer.app. A useful notice includes: why you believe the content is illegal, a link to or precise description of where it is, your name and email address, and a statement that you believe your notice is accurate and complete. You do not have to give your name or email if the notice concerns the sexual abuse or sexual exploitation of a child, child sexual abuse material, or the solicitation (grooming) of a child. We confirm receipt, review the notice diligently and objectively, tell you what we decided and why, and tell you how you can challenge the decision. If any automated tool contributed to the decision, we say so.
What happens on a violation
Depending on severity, we may remove the content, restrict features, suspend the account, or ban it permanently. We act proportionately: for less serious cases a warning or a content removal comes before anything account-level. Illegal content is reported to authorities where the law requires. Accounts that repeatedly infringe other people's rights, including copyright, are closed. When we take action against your content or account, we tell you what was actioned, why, for how long, whether it started from a report or our own review, whether any automated tool was used, which rule or law applies, and how you can challenge the decision (see Appeals below).
Appeals
Think we got it wrong? Email support@fishandbeer.app with the subject "Appeal". Someone who did not make the original decision will take a second, human look, and we respond by email with the outcome and reasons. Moderation combines your reports with human review; we do not suspend or terminate accounts by automated means alone. You always keep the right to out-of-court dispute settlement and to go to court (Terms, section 18).
